Every boy needs a dog
The neighbors' bulldog stopped by for a visit. Fairly soon, someone will most likely pick out a dog of his own.

The Sandlot
In good light, you may be able to see this better. The photograph does not show as much as real life. I said very clearly "get your glove up." She kept her eye on the ball until the ball was on her eye. She is a real sport about it. She rebounded quickly after a joke about her need for sympathy (see second photograph).
Keith got a glove and ball for Christmas. Our kids literally have as little experience as the main character in the movie "The Sandlot."
Our first baseball lesson. We bought a tee and bat this weekend but got rained out yesterday before we could use it. Today, tee practice and some just getting outside.

New Year's Eve and my 3 kids
So, Julie had to attend a funeral on New Years's Eve. I stayed home with the kids. All three of them. Yes, THREE.
Emily is 6 years-old and Keith is 3 years-old.

And Jasper is 11 months-old.

Don't believe he is a child?
Then, I submit the following photograph as proof.
.JPG)
That is where I am supposed to sleep. Notice that Julie is surrounded by Miti (13 year-old step-cat and not really my child), Emily, Keith, and Jasper. They started out in different beds but had assembled by 2am.
CORRECTION Miti is 14 years-old.

Happy Birthday - Keith Jamison Collins

Wow. Two years old. It just does not seem like he should be that old yet. He is a wonderful, happy boy.

My birthday
So, for my birthday the kids have taken on two distinct roles. Emily is the reporter. She has just finished explaining the noises I heard while working at my computer. Keith is practicing for a career as a stunt man. He has pulled the pillows off of our bed and placed them in a stack on the floor. According to the sounds I heard and a first-hand report from his sister, he is jumping off the bed onto the pillows.

Times are changing
I once wrote about Emily as a toddler and adjusting to daylight savings time. I actually wrote about her refusal to adjust to daylight savings time.
We had the new and improved daylight savings time last Sunday. Keith is about the same age now as Emily was then. The results over the last few days indicate that Keith and Emily are biologically related. Keith, Emily, and I refuse to adjust to daylight savings time. If anyone reading this blog has access to the governor or president, please pass this along. STOP CHANGING TIMES.
Thank you.

Diagnosis
A few more days of sleepless nights (pardon the pun) and we should be back to this face:

Well, Keith has an ear infection and bronchitis.
BTW, Keith can recognize the Shipley's Donuts logo. I am so proud.

The many faces of a sick child
I know that there are some days when staying home and resting is just what the doctor ordered. I am glad that I had a schedule yesterday that let me stay home with Keith. Probably a sinus infection that has spread to chest. He has a condition that his pediatrician called a precursor to asthma. He wheezes when he has a respiratory problem, but most days has no problems. Goes to see our physician tomorrow at 9am.

A beautiful day
The title says it all. Emily and I took a boat ride in the pond with Francis. Keith got his first taste of 4-wheeling. We went to the Ag Museum earlier in the day to see the model train exhibit. Those photographs are not developed yet. These photographs were taken with my cell phone.

Happy Birthday - Julie Povall Collins

Today is the wife's birthday. As the kids were getting up this morning, I decided that for her birthday we would go as a family to breakfast. Had a wonderful time at the IHOP.
However, like her mother, our daughter Emily is slow to get going in the morning. Keith and I had some time to kill. One of us decided to eat chocolate pudding for breakfast. From the photograph in this post, you should be able to tell which one...
