Our first donation
Sid's Bullitt Fund received the first contribution today from an anonymous saint in Knoxville, TN. We now have a total of $5 in the fund.
It is better to give than receive. Remember that as you stroll over to your wallet or checkbook and size up your donation.
Thanks to you all.
Sincerely,
A desperate man

Update on the Bullitt Fund
Good news. After some overwhelming response, I am happy to report that the Bullitt Fund has taken care of 3 of 5 numbers in the price. The 0-7-5 have been received. Now we need the 3-1 to be received and I can place a marker for one of the Bullitt Mustangs.
On a personal note, I was touched that some of you offered me a Bullitt. However, you misspelled the car's name. It is B-U-L-L-I-T-T. The name ends in "itt" not "et". Quite a few responded that you had a bullet for me. Touching really.

Sid's Bullitt Fund
Ford Motor Company is releasing a new version of the Bullitt. I need one. This is not a desire or urge or wish. I need one.
We need to raise $31,075 by January 1st. This is going to take some sacrifice on everyone's part, but that is something I can tolerate. I need you to write a blank check and mail it to:
Sid's Bullitt Fund
c/o The Crayon Years
PO Box 801
Hattiesburg, MS 39403-0801
The first 10 donors will receive an 8x10 color glossy photograph of me and the Bullitt. I will autograph each one and personally deliver the photograph in the car. How surreal is that!!!!!!??????
So act now because only the first 10 blank check donors will receive the personally signed and delivered photographs.

I need $31,075 by January
Ford will produce just 7,700 Bullitts, many of which likely will be snapped up by the car's legions of fans. The starting price is $31,075.
Ford designers reviewed the movie frame-by-frame as they built the new Bullitt, which comes in the dark green of the film as well as in black. There's a bright accent ring around the grille and no exterior badges or spoilers, just like the original. New to the Bullitt is a 4.6-liter V-8 engine with 315 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque.
"We think it's going to be a modern classic," said the Bullitt's chief designer, Doug Gaffka. "It's not exactly like the original, but it's the way you remember it."
At a media preview of the Bullitt near Ford's headquarters in Dearborn, Ford's president of the Americas, Mark Fields, said he decided he wanted to be part of the auto industry after watching the seven-minute chase scene in "Bullitt" when he was 10. Fields said Ford considers the variations of the Mustang to be collectors' items whose price makes them within reach of fans. Most recently, Ford produced the Shelby GT Mustang in collaboration with racing legend Carroll Shelby.
"This is a grown-up version of Matchbox cars," Fields said.

My Inner European wants to drive a 2005-07 Mustang GT
You can take a pole to find out which country is home to your Inner European.
I had some trouble finding an answer from the lists for a few questions. The question that I had settle for a less than close answer was the car question. My Inner European really wants to drive a Mustang GT from the 2005 redesign. He will settle for a 2006 or 2007. Ford really did good work on bringing back the classic lines of the Mustang.
My Inner American wants to drive the car from the movie Bullitt. A 1968 Mustang GT. "One of the screen's all-time best car chase sequences (at up to 110 miles per hour) was a 10-minute sequence filmed with hand-held cameras up and down the narrow, hilly streets of San Francisco as police lieutenant Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen) chased after criminals in his car through hazardous intersections. Bullitt's car was a Highland Green, 1968 four-speed Ford Mustang Fastback GT (California yellow-on-black license JJZ 109) powered by a 390/4V big block engine, in pursuit of a black, 1968 four-speed Dodge Charger 440 R/T. The classic chase ended when the bad guys lost control and crashed into a gas station - with a fiery explosion. (Continuity errors in the sequence included an oft-viewed green VW Beetle, and the 6 hubcaps that fell off the Charger's wheels.)"
Oh yeah, my Inner European is Dutch. "Open minded and tolerant. You're up for just about anything."
I wonder if the Dutch like to drive '68 Mustang Fastbacks?
